Description: |
The Staples Patent gage builds off the same basic idea as the
Traut's 1892 Patent(481,515), but in a more compact and robust
package. Instead of the traditional marking gage shape chosen by
Traut, Staples used a cast iron block with two wheeled markers on
adjustable posts. The block was also machined such that it could
also be used as a square to mark the sides of the butt mortise.
