Description: |
Utilizes a sliding piece "F" to lock the bevel at a right angle when required and it may be withdrawn when not required. This was be means of either a rotating (type 1) or sliding piece (type 2) - see images. Mr. James P. Durochia reports "The Type 1 turn is hard to operate and may have been more susceptible to damage due to the thin metal turn piece. The Type 2 slide is easier to operate and more durable."
It should be noted that Robinson later assigned another patent reissue RE8,058 to the co-inventor, Fairbanks, of this patent. It is assumed that Henry Fairbanks is associated with E&T Fairbanks & Co. where Isaiah Robinson was reported to be employed. |
