Description: |
The adjusting screw has a pivoting base to allow it to be tipped free of the rack teeth. The patent drawing shows the wrench with an angled jaw face on the movable jaw and teeth on both jaw faces. A known example citing this patent and Ewer's October 16, 1906 patent (no. 833,516 ) was manufactured as a nut wrench.
An October, 1908 ENGINEERING REVIEW item announced Ewer's participation in formation of the DETROIT WRENCH CO. to produce pipe and monkey wrenches. A 1911 ad shows the manufacturer as EWER WRENCH & TOOL CO. of Howell, Mich.
