Description:
This combination tool includes tin shears, wire cutter, gas pliers, rule, straight-edge, screwdriver or chisel, tack claw, tap wrench, and some very imaginative uses noted in the specifications.

A description of the PIONEER'S COMPANION in the Febr. 9, 1870 AMERICAN ARTISAN noted optional corkscrew and saw blade attachments; an unmarked example of the tool has these features. The rule on this example is marked in fractional inch measures on one side, and metric on the other.

The specifications note this tool received a French patent on May 9, 1868. Corresponding British patent GB-187000520 was granted Febr. 22, 1870.
