Description: |
The main features of the patent are: 1)The movable hook jaw which has rack teeth at the end of the shank portion. A flat spring forces the toothed portion of the shank into engagement with matching teeth on the second jaw piece. 2) A second jaw surface on a rocking lever. A portion of this lever has teeth that engage with the teeth on the movable hook jaw. The lever is housed in a slot in the main handle portion, and a compression spring at the bottom end of the lever holds it in engagement with the movable hook jaw.
Similar meshing rack teeth appear in Newton's parallel nut wrench patent (no. 807,396). |
