Description: |
The patent is described as an improvement on James B. Erwin's Feb. 11, 1902 patent (no. 693,353). Roesch's improvement puts the clamping levers outside the circumference of the spring bands so that the levers do not touch the jar and cause it to break.
Both patent dates are cited on a metal band type jar wrench (some also marked WOLVERINE SUPPLY CO). It was advertised in 1905 as the jar holder for the WOLVERINE FRUIT JAR HOLDER AND OPENER from Wolverine Supply Co., Pittsburgh, PA. Wolverine Supply Co. subsequently was the assignee for Sept. 13, 1910 pat. no. 970,365.
