Description: |
This self-adjusting wrench operates by teeth cut on the interior end of the swinging handle engaging rack teeth cut on the movable jaw. Unmarked wrenches conforming to this design are known. In the absence of advertising or catalog listings, the manufacturer is a matter of surmise. One early self-adjusting bicycle wrench with a similar action has been identified as accompanying MICHAUX velocipedes from France. (AMERICAN ARTISAN, April 7, 1869, pg. 213). |
