Description: |
The movable combination nut and pipe jaw has an adjustable internal sliding wedge which allows for lateral movement when the wrench is used as a pipe wrench, but disables lateral movement when the wrench is used as a nut wrench.
The pipe jaw inserts and general style of the jaws appeared in B&C pipe wrenches. The pipe gripping insert in the movable jaw of the B&C combination pipe & nut wrench based on patent no. 145,085 was held in place by a screw through the early 1890s. After then, it was held by a "transverse pin" similar to the layout in this patent. |
