Description: |
The movable jaw is housed in a rocking frame similar to that used in the Stillson pipe wrench (viz pat. no. 95,744 and sequels). The patented features are the guide lugs behind the rocking frame carrying the movable jaw and adjusting nut, the corresponding bearing surfaces on the rocking frame, and the compression return spring inserted in the frame between the guide lugs.
Produced as the 2nd version of the TRIMO pipe wrench. It evolved from nos. 397,618 and 414,663. In marketing, it was distinguished from the earlier style by the designation "A."
The TRIMO EMERGENCY PIPE WRENCH with screwdriver in the handle & rare TRIMO A 6 // Patented 1889 - 90 "Gas Fitters Wrench" comes from this phase of development of the TRIMO pipe wrench.
This frame was the basis for later refinements, including patent nos. 1,012,036 and 1,187,690. |
