Description: |
Improvements to patent 3,012,381; see that patent for a description of of this machine for manufacturing thin sheet metal. See also patent 3,220,146 which is a companion to this improvement patent. The improvement is intended to avoid a problem where the leading edge of the sheet metal web contacting the abrasive belt caused a transverse region of high wear on the belt which leads to shadow lines on the rest of the web of sheet metal. The improvement shifts the axis of the billy roll relative to the forward edge of the abrasive belt as the stock advances so that the leading edge of the sheet metal will ride up on the billy roll ahead of the belt. |
