Description: |
The design improves Chadbourn's Band Cutter (patent no. 190,467) by adding a wire clamping spring and grooved slot on one jaw. This structure would hold the cut wire so it could be safely discarded separately from the straw and grain.
Early grain binders used wire bundle ties and contamination of grain and straw with bits of wire was a serious problem. |
