Abstract:
This invention relates generally to multicylinder vertical compound steam engines using a "Woolf steam cycle," and it relates more particularly to steeple-compound, uniflow, poppet- valve, reversing stationary and marine steam engines, on which much higher steam temperatures can be used with resulting lower steam consumption.
Claim:
In a multicylinder steam engine, in combination, a high-pressure cylinder and a low-pressure cylinder having admission and exhaust ports, valves for controlling the steam events in said cylinders, and an open auxiliary steam line between said high-pressure cylinder and said low-pressure cylinder. |
