This patent was withdrawn. The 1858 "Commissioner of Patents Annual Report" summarizes this patent as follows. "This invention relates to the means employed in pegging machines to present properly the pegging mechanism to the various curvatures of the work. It consists in a head O arranged to support the action of the peg driver; and the awl will be square, or nearly so, to the surface curvatures of the sole, and to slide and spring for the purpose of conforming to the inequalities and curvatures of the surface and edges of the work to be pegged." This patent was subsequently improved in patent 21,091. |
