Stan Schulz O. T. BEDELL RAPID TRANSIT SCREW WRENCH - edited from April 1, 1876 THE METAL WORKER (FLICKR)
|
Description: |
The patent is an elaboration on Bedell's July 28, 1874 patent (no. 153,528). The movable jaw slides separately from the adjusting screw. In this elaboration, the back of the bar has beveled corners. The wrench is described at length in a March 23, 1876 "Iron Age" item that is partially reprinted in Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930," and a similar write-up in the April 1, 1876 THE METAL WORKER.
In July 1875, Bedell was advertising the patent for lease in SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. In March, 1876 Bedell was in communication with a British patent agent to secure a British patent (GB-187601123). |
