Stan Schulz Pfeiffer's Pincer Wrench (Bedford, MA Historical Society)
|
Description: |
Slip-joint pliers with adjusting worm on one handle. In one position, the pliers functions as a normal pliers. In the other position, the worm engages teeth on the other member to adjust the opening size and hold that adjustment. The tool can be made to grip and hold an object between the jaws by means of the adjusting worm. The specifications note the handle tips could be used as calipers by virtue of the adjustment.
Several known examples marked PAT APLD FOR; the Bedford, MA Historical Society lists the maker as Pfeiffer Manufacturing, and shows an example with the trade mark and patent date. |
