Description: |
A slide drives a helical twist shaft; part of the shaft has screw threads to adjust a movable jaw. The basic concepts carry over from Evans' Jan. 26, 1926 patent no. 1,570,627. The slide includes a spring clip to hold the adjustment.
The specifications elaborate the major steps of assembling the parts of this wrench.
Examples found marked "EVANS WRENCH CO. FALL RIVER, MASS" with the patent number or patent date; more commonly found marked "EVANS PAT'D ZIP GRIP L.A. CALIF."
Evans' earlier slide & helix adjust patents (nos. 1,391,179 and 1,449,386) were used in the HandE wrenches produced by the H&E Wrench Co. of New Bedford, Mass. |
