Description:
This arborless saw construction was featured on the front page of the 1853-03-12 Scientific American. The description concludes, "For particulars, address Flanders & Mansfield, Concord, N. H." This article is literally the only mention of "Flanders & Mansfield" that we can find.

Over four years earlier, Flanders exhibited a model of a circular saw mill at the September 1850 Exhibition of the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association in Boston. The judges' report says "The novelty of this article consists of a circular saw without an arbor. While it gives evidence of ingenuity in the invention, it is evident that it cannot be made available for any purpose for which there are not better machines already in use."
