Description: |
"This invention relates to improvements in metal shapers, such as are used in railway shops, where it is desired to machine locomotive driving boxes or other devices. The object of the invention is to provide an improved shaper including a reciprocating body or ram carrying a tool-head and shaping tool at its forward end, together with means for laterally adjusting the tool on the head to vary the depth of cut, the tool adjusting means being entirely located within the confines of the ram and tool-head and avoiding lateral projection therefrom, so that the ram may be reciprocating through a confining opening, and in which the tool adjusting mechanism is operatable manually from the front of the head, in connection with which a micrometer scale is provided, enabling the operator to manually produce a fine adjustment of the mechanism while the machine is operating..." |
