Description: |
A self-adjusting spanner that appears to correspond to "SCHWARTZKOPFF'S ADJUSTING SPANNER" (patent GB-1863000945) has a sliding latch on the handle that can engage one of a series of notches on the extended "skirt" of the head. This patent apparently was subsequently abandoned.
Note: Early British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent # (with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #2,260 of the year 1885. |
