Parallel jaw pliers of the "BERNARD" type, with specialized jaw tips for tying and cutting threads in cotton mills, and a wire loop in one handle end to enable the operator to keep the tool readily available.

The specifications note the concept comes from North Carolina; W. P. Thompson was a British patent agent.
