Description: |
| A double-sized jaw opening corresponding to a "rectangular nut." -- The specifications for the patent describe nuts and bolts with "one heavy side" for the bolt heads and nuts, to keep railroad fish plate bolts from vibrating loose -- the theory being that gravity would keep the heavy side down.
Note: Early English patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January.
