Description: |
Michael J. Stark - patent attorney
This invention has general reference to improvements in steam-pumps; and it consists, essentially, in the novel and peculiar combination of parts and details of construction, as hereinafter first fully set forth and described, and then pointed out in the claims. In the drawings already mentioned, which serve to illustrate my said invention more fully, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved steam-pump. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional elevation of the same, illustrating the parts of the pump at the beginning of the down-stroke. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the same, showing the position of 1he parts immediately after the beginning of the upstroke. Like parts are designated by corresponding letters of reference in all the figures. A in the drawings, designates the steam cylinder of my steam-pump. It is secured to a suitably constructed base B by means of screws 1, it having flanges on both its ends for this purpose, and for the further object of securing to its upper end the pump-cylinder C. This latter cylinder is smaller than the steam-cylinder, the difference being regulated by the height to which the pump is to lift or the "head" against which it has to force the liquid.
