Description: |
From the February 1895 American Exporter, page 34. "A machine has been invented by S. N. Goldy, of Bridgeport, Conn., U. S. A., which, it is said, promises to revolutionize the wood-turning business. It differs from other wood-turning machines in that it works automatically, and the shaping tool revolves with great velocity, which the stick that is being worked turns very slowly. Some experts claim it to be for wonder of the age, for, as described, it will bring the hardest of knots into shape without chipping, and if it were possible to feed it fast enough would turn in excess of 30,000 pieces per day. There have been great improvements turning lathes the last few years." |
