Description: |
The main feature of the patent is the coil spring which tends to close the loop or hook jaw against the gripping surface on the handle. It is described as being suitable for a lathe-dog or pipe wrench. Both the pipe wrench and lathe dog are shown in 1919 - 1920 EFFICIENCY DEVICE CORP. ads and hardware trade journal notices.
Efficiency Device Corp's STIX-ON WRENCH made of stamped parts has a spring-tensioned hook jaw and this patent date. Vivarttas' Sept. 18, 1923 patent (no. 1,468,529) adds refinements to the wrench application of the concept, and more closely matches the STIX-ON WRENCH. |
