Carl Matthews "Vintage Machinery" entry for Lewis & Lurie Manufacturing Co.
|
Description: |
One of these vises appeared on Patrick Leach's June 2007 tool list. The patent date is clearly read, but the name is nearly illegible. Patrick rendered it as "Lewis and something I can't read". Fortunately, the 1895-10-03 issue of The Iron Age has an illustrated article on this vise, and the maker is identified as Lewis & Lurie Mfg. Company of 142 Duane street, New York. |
