Description: |
The patent describes a wrench with a sliding movable jaw with a spring-loaded pawl engaging a rack on the main bar for adjustment. The loop end of the handle is formed to allow the jaw to be slid in place, and afterwards is expanded to keep the movable jaw from being removed. The parts are all to be made of malleable iron.
This is the first of two patents cited on malleable iron wrenches produced by O.B. North & Co. -- the other is no. 186,155, granted Jan. 9, 1877. |
