Description: |
Cross-heads of planing-machines are usually clamped to the upright sides by means of bolts and nuts. This mode of clamping obliges the workman to go to the opposite side of the machine in order to secure both ends of the head. The object of my invention is to obviate this necessity, and to render the operation of clamping the cross-head much easier and more expeditious. My invention consists in clamping the cross-bead to the upright sides by means of levers, D, by a single movement of the handle. These levers have their fulcrum at B, and are operated by means of the handle and lever I and 3, through the medium of the slide H and the roller F. The roller F works on a pin in the end of the levers. The slide H has an inclined surface near its inner end, which acts upon this roller when the slide is moved lengthwise. |
