Description: |
A beautiful tool, and perhaps the culmination of the designs based on W. Brodhead's original patent (76,884). This tool uses a metal sheathed bar for wear protection, and also adds a split-bar design to allow it to be used to mark mortises.
This tool was assigned to the Union Manufacturing Company, but between when the patent was applied for and when it was granted, Union was acquired by the Stanley Rule & Level Company.
This tool was produced (a single example is known extant), but the merger of Union and Stanley probably killed the production. |
