Description:
Machine forms through dovetails, and is intended for rapid, inexpensive work, such as common boxes. The front page of the March 24, 1860 issue of Scientific America has an article about this invention, including a drawing of the machine, and a detailed explanation of its operation. The November 24, 1860 issue of Scientific America carried a notice that Burley had obtained an English patent for his dovetailing machine. Charles H. Phelps and William J. Lowerra, both of New York, were listed as co-patentees.
