Description: |
The jaws are "grooved" with the grooves at right angles to the shank of the wrench. The shank has a center slot in line with the center of the jaw opening. The slot allows nuts to be turned down on long bolts. The specifications note the wrench could be designed for square or hex nuts, and the adjusting means could be any method although the drawing shows a screw adjustment.
A full page listing in Webb's New England Railway and Manufacturer's Statistical Gazetteer (1869) shows two versions of this wrench produced by the Eureka Wrench Company of Providence, RI. A known example is too pitted to determine if it originally had any markings. |
