Description:
The wrench is comprised of two iron pieces and a spring. The spring is supposed to exert sufficient pressure on the slide to hold the adjustment. Pratt received a patent for an improvement on this design on Feb. 11, 1868 (Pat. no. 74245), and John N. Arvin's Feb. 16, 1869 patent (no. 86967) also cites this patent.
