Description: |
This patent shows a solid frame for the adjusting nut and movable jaw (similar to patent no. 107,304), with an interior projection on the frame providing a pivot point for the rocking movement of the adjustable jaw. The handle design and end cap shown in the patent drawing match a 6 inch version of the Stillson wrench that had a screwdriver tip under the end cap. The concealed screwdriver is not noted in the specifications; this feature was already available in the mid-1870s.
Subsequent production of Walworth's Stillson pipe wrenches were marked with the August 1882 patent, even though they were still using the features of the original Oct. 12, 1869 and April 30, 1872 Stillson patents (nos. 95,744 & 126,161). |
