Description: |
One blade is marked with various roof pitches with a second blade (body) that can be swung over to allow rafters to be marked. The first blade also has a table with the pitches in a vertical column, the widths of the building in a horizontal row, and the lengths of the required rafters at intersecting points of the horizontal and vertical columns.
Known example is marked "Topp's Framing Tool U.S. Pat. Nov. 1, 1892" on the blade. Stock is cherry.
Cook also received a patent in Canada for this same tool the following year. |
