Description: |
See also patent GB-171,500,401. Sybilla Masters moved to London (from Pennsylvania) to open a hat shop where she sold her "West Indies" hats and bonnets as well as baskets, matting and furniture, all made from palmetto leaves. She returned home after only a couple of months due to homesickness. She died in 1720, at about 44 years of age. This patent was granted to Sybilla's husband as women were not allowed to hold patents. |
