| This is the Swiss equivalent of US patent 485,663 and German patent {DE72,932}.Google Translate of the first paragraph of this patent's specification..."In Pelton's water wheel, the blades are attached to the wheel rim in certain spaces using screws or rivets. Due to the pressure and impact exerted on the blades by water, the fastening bolts are subjected to a great deal of shear stress, which, as experience has shown, causes the blades to come loose easily and often break off completely. Furthermore, the useful effect of the Pelton wheel is impaired by the fact that the blade enters the water jet with the front vertical wall parallel to the water jet. This creates a great resistance to the blade entering the jet, which reduces the work performance of the wheel. These problems are avoided by the new design." |
