Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for J. D. Wallace & Co. Vintage Machinery entry for Fred W. Wappat
|
Description: |
There are two major innovations: a tilting-arbor mechanism and an improved retractable guard; other improvements are a cutout in the guard so the operator can see the cut line, and a means of clearing sawdust from the cut line.J. D. Wallace & Co. used this patent in what was probably the first commercially successful small tilting-arbor tablesaw (see patent 77,606 for Jonathan Grosvenor's much earlier but larger tilting-arbor saw). The blade-guard portion of this patent was licensed by Wappat Gear Works for their handheld circular saws. |
