Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Pettingell Machine Co.
Description: |
| This patent date was seen on an "Open End Cornice Brake" in a catalog from Pettingell Machine Co. The illustration shows the Pettingell name cast into the base of the machine. The assignee company, Walker-Wells Co., was formed in 1911 to take over the Amesbury operations of the Walker Carriage Co. Walker-Wells made automotive bodies and were quite successful in their early years. Harlan P. Wells was president, and the other executives were George Walker, James H. Walker, and Henry Miller. Given their specialty, it seems unlikely that Walker-Wells ever manufactured this cornice brake. |
