Description:
A detailed design for a tool to attach and remove shoe buttons. Bernard's contemporary / simplified shoe button pliers patent application was filed after this one (April 22, 1913), but granted prior -- no. 1,090,191 granted Mar. 17, 1914. Neither set of specifications note the existence of the other "pending."

A 5-inch BERNARD side cutter / nipper also bears markings for this patent date, Dec. 16, 1913 (patent RE-13,657), and Nov. 4, 1913 (patent 1,077,789).

A known example matching Fig. 1 in the drawings is marked with both the March 17, 1914 and April 6, 1915 patent dates.
