Description:
A small throw "crank" turns a socket with a notched flange. The main handle has an elongated slot which enables a lug on the handle to engage a notch in the flange to start loosening or finalize tightening the axle nut.

Corresponding U.S. patent no. 561,823 was issued June 9, 1896.
