Jeff Joslin "Vintage Machinery" entry for Cowan & Co. 1909-07-15 article on this invention
|
Description: |
The inventor is described as a draughtsman. This mechanism allows the planer feed rolls for momentary variations in relative speed in order to accommodate the rollers moving as lumber thickness varies, as when feeding different-thickness boards front-to-back through the planer. According to the 1909-07-15 issue of Canada Lumberman and Woodworker, "Mr. Baird has sold the Canadian rights in the invention to Messrs. Cowan & Company of Galt, who are now applying it to their line of moulders..." |
