John B. Thomas & Co. - patent attorneys
This invention is an improvement in wrenches, and relates more especially to the class of pipe and nut wrenches of the type which is commonly known as "sliding-jaw", and in which the movable jaw is adjustable by means of a screw. The primary object of my invention is to provide a wrench of this particular type with means for facilitating the operation of the wrench, whereby after the sliding-jaw has been approximately adjusted by turning the screw and the wrench placed in engagement with the pipe or nut, the said sliding-jaw may be quickly and conveniently operated to more firmly clamp the pipe or nut between the jaws of the wrench. A further object of the invention is to provide simple and effective means for holding the jaws in close locked engagement with the pipe or nut for convenience in operating the wrench to turn the pipe or nut. |
