Description: |
| This is an improvement on Johnson's Sept. 22, 1891 patent (no. 460,015). The adjustable jaw bit is marked with a size scale, and is reversible. The hook jaw has a pivotal connection to its handle, with a notch that is the bearing point for a spur of the other handle which adds gripping force to the overall operation.
The adjustable jaw bit was carried over into Johnson's hook jaw pipe wrench patent (no. 737,847). Compare also adjustable bit of the JARECKI tongs (1877 Pat. no. RE7,650). |
