Description: |
The patent is for the spring-loaded pivoted gripping surface on the adjustable jaw of the wrench. The retaining pin for the pivot is held by the wrench frame, but can be removed when the jaw is removed from the frame to facilitate replacement of the gripping piece when it wears.
Compare R.C. Morris' Sept. 1, 1925 patent (no. 1,551,763).
MANUFACTURER ATTRIBUTION: After comparing examples of the HOLLAND STEEL CORP HOLLAND PATENTED 1925 (later STEELGRIP) pipe wrench, and the PAT. PEND BULL DOG GRIPS - NEVER SLIPS BULL DOG WRENCH CO. BENTON HARBOR MICH pipe wrench (announced in spring 1924), the BULL DOG wrench jaw appears to match the design in this patent. Mull was not mentioned in news items announcing formation of the BULL DOG WRENCH Co. |
