This angle-drive socket is a tire bolt wrench with a sliding bolt-head holder on a a shaft extending from the frame. A known example is marked only with the patent date. At least one example exists with several sizes of replaceable sockets.
Custer was advertising this wrench as the HANDY TIRE BOLTER in late 19th and early 20th Century issues of BLACKSMITH and WHEELWRIGHT, American BLACKSMITH, etc.
