Description: |
Two thin flexible jaws hinged together, fastened to the handle at one end, and with a hook provision at the other, form a gripping loop when the handle is moved. The description notes this type of grip would not abrade or jam on pipe. The description notes the similarity of this action to strap or band type braking systems. This is the first "strap" type pipe wrench patent. It has no provision for accomodating multiple sizes of pipe.
The brass patent model with original Patent Office tag went through on-line auction in 2019. |
