Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Mereen-Johnson Machine Co. Vintage Machinery entry for Skolnik Tool & Mfg. Co.
|
Description: |
This router-based combination power tool was possibly manufactured by Mereen-Johnson Machine Co., best known for their sawmill machinery. Our only evidence is a brass nameplate that was found in the rubble of a demolished house in Minneapolis. The plate says, "Master Universal Electric Woodworker patented U.S.A., Sept. 6, 1927... Mereen-Johnson Machine Co. Minneapolis, Minnesota." There is also spaces for motor information (volts, H. P., etc.) but no markings are legible. No other patents issued on this date seem to be as good a fit, and in addition both Mereen-Johnson and the inventor, Max Skolnik, are from Minneapolis. |
