Description: |
Here, Lucius Barrett improves upon his original roller gage patent (384,413) by using a clever arm locking scheme that allows both arms to be locked with a single screw. Other than the locking mechanism, this gage is identical to the original.
This tool was produced in large quantites by the Leavitt Machine Company, and are thus fairly common. There are also known examples of the same tool manufactured by Robbins & Cowles, but these are significantly more scarce.
Interestingly, both manufacturers marked the tool with the date of Barrett's first patent (6/12/88), rather than this one. |
