| This was marketed as the "American Girl" sewing machine, a companion piece to the "American Boy" scrollsaw. Those two toys were the first products of what became the Delta Mfg. Co. According to correspondent Thomas H. Fehring, "Delta eventually sold the right to manufacture the device to the National Sewing Machine Company in Belvedere Illinois. National continued making the American Girl toy sewing machine into the 1950s, coming out in additional colors and with other versions of the machine called 'Eldredgette' and 'Stitchwell.'" |
