Description: |
| Ratchet action accomplished by opposite facing sets of teeth on "handle" portion and two "tool driver" portions that swivel on a common center shaft. The patent includes a supplemental crank handle.
The "FERRET" ratchet spanner based on the patent did not include the supplemental crank handle; the "tool driver" portions fit a set of tubular steel wrench sockets.
Earliest 1910 trade announcements listed production by County Chemical Co. Ltd. (Birmingham); subsequent production by ACCLES & POLLOCK, Ltd. continued for a least a decade.
Note: Early British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent # (with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #6,435 of the year 1910. |
