Description: |
| The patent describes adjustable holding "frames" for curved vials in levels for carpentry and plumbing use. "Sprit Level" title is taken from Canadian Patent Office Record. A 1910 ad lists the maker as N.G. LEVEL Co.; 1911 and later listings list "O.K.LEVEL Co." A 1916 PRITZLAFF Hardware catalog listing for wood body O.K. Levels notes the adjusting feature.
A known aluminum body O.K. LEVEL has a "Patent Nov. 7, 1909" marking, which may reflect a failed or abandoned U.S. patent application. The drawing for the Canadian patent application is dated Nov. 20, 1909. Grohowsky was listed as "proprietor" in the 1911 WISCONSIN GAZETTEER. The company was subsequently formed ca. 1924 as O.K. Level Works. |
